White Pass Cross-Country Touring Center
Skimming the edges of the William O. Douglas Wilderness and the Goat Rocks Wilderness, the trails of the White Pass Cross-Country Touring Center seem to whisk you straight away from the busy resort area into the depths of the forest primeval. Views from this high mountain location are amazingly enticing, though somewhat hard to come by. The excellently groomed tracks are laid out in a series of well-designed loops ideal for beginners to experts, with grooves for diagonal striding and a wide platform in the center for skating. The trails are open and freshly groomed Thursdays through Sundays, and on holidays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Lessons on diagonal striding, skating, and telemarking are offered. The resort has rentals, day care services, overnight accommodations, and food service. A per-person trail fee is charged. The rate is the same for adults as for children. Avalanche potential: none.
